Vaishno Devi also known as Mata Rani means Mother Goddess or Durga. It is one of the most famous pilgrim centers in India. History behind Vaishno Devi Mandir is very interesting and people who goes there say that some kind of relax and peace in their mind they feel there. Our Ancestors say that Maa call people to her Mandir people can’t go there without her permission. Vaishno Devi is one of 108 Shakti peetha the story of vaishno devi was found in chanddi up – purana.

Maa Vaishno Devi temple can be reached from Katra. Katra is a small but bustling town around 45 km. from Jammu. In 2014 Indian government started new Railway line till Katra. So that person going to Vaishno Devi can reach to their destination in a very easy way.

From Katra, after getting the 'Yatra Parchi' (Journey Slip) at Banganga point for darshan, devotees can proceed to the Bhawan. The way to Bhawan is steep and requires a long walk uphill from Katra. Alternatively ponies and palanquins are also available. Helicopter service can also be taken for a large part of the trip. The Trust offers comfortable stay for pilgrims. The distance from Katra to Bhawan is about 13 km.

While proceeding towards Bhawan your first stop will be at Adhkuwari. Adhkuwari means “The Enternal Virgin. According to the legend, when Vaishnavi, in the form of a small girl, disapperared from the bhandaara organized by Pandit Shridhar, she halted at Bhanganga and Charan Paduka. From there she reached Adhkuwari, where in a small womb shaped cave she meditated and observed spiritual discipline for nine months.

Yatri can prsue to Bhawan Via two ways by Adhkawari which is the old way of Bhawan or by Himkoti. Electric Auto are also available from Adhkawari. Himkoti is the way from where no ponies and horses go. Via Himkoti Bhawan distance is 5.5 Km and from Adhkawari its 6.5 Km.

Bhawan which is the destination of every yatri, where Maa has revealed herself as holy pindies in her three forms Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi and Mata Saraswati. 
The first sight of the Holy Bhawan brings a sudden upsurge of energy and all the tiredness of the strenuous climb evaporates immediately as if by a magic wave of some mystic wand. The fact that the last 1.5 km of the Yatra are either level or gently sloping downwards is a big relief to those tried muscles.

After Bhawan next destination is Bhairon Nath Mandir Bhairon Nath who was pursuing her, found her in cave and start challenging her. So, finally the Goddess assumed her devine from severed the head of Bhairon Nath. There was so much power behind the blow of her sword that Bhairon Nath’s head flew away and fell on another spur of the mountain which is 1.5 km away from Bhawan now known as Bharavnath mandir.
